Examination Under Oath

This is an informal kind of deposition, in which insurance carriers, investigation units, and respective attorneys can ask hospitals and healthcare providers to appear under oath. If the healthcare providers fail to appear, the bill will not be paid. The purpose of this examination is to ascertain whether the bill should be paid, and it can quite quickly become contentious between providers and carriers, which many attorneys do not specialize in.
